General Membership Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM at 918 Benjamin NE, Grand Rapids. Meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and invocation.

September General membership meeting minutes were accepted as posted with a notation that the motion for the sponsorship of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Bowling team was a policy therefore did not have to be voted on.

Officers Report

Motion Austin, Second Beemblossom, to read last months treasurer report at the next meeting due to the absence of the treasurer. Carried

Executive Vice President, Marcus; Stewards training last month, 12 stewards in attendance, received a check 50/50 rebate for membership sign up Seven people going to the Multi Craft Conference in Las Vegas next month. With the new job posting Michelle Gregory has volunteered to keep track of new jobs and also order up the call in logs when needed. Labor management meeting will be October 30th. Nixies are being done in the area from where they occur. New plant manager says in the offices where she came from they had no nixie clerks

Clerk Craft Director, Scutt; Clerks will be doing some Pit Training. We also have the right to weigh the mail. Missy VanderSlik is the step 2 designee, Issue was brought up about the Bulk mail escape door. Parking committee has been established at the P-1, the downtown committee will do the P-1. FSM will be moved. Expeditor training at the P-1, next week. Discussion of the new bidding procedure.

MVS Craft Director, Larabel; Will defer his report to next months meeting.

President, Amos; I’ve been off due to knee replacement surgery. I would like to thank Amy and Bill for taking care of business. Not sure if the new plant manager is pro management or pro union

Committee Reports.

State Convention - Long and Amos Co-chair; May 15 thru 17th at the Crowne Plaza. Catherine Beemblossom is the chair of Hospitality and Karen Hodges the Entertainment.

Veteran’s, Kramer; All veterans in or out of uniform can salute. Don’t forget to visit the Purple Heart monument. T-shirts are for sale.

Board Recommendations

To have 2 - $250 drawings to promote membership participation in our local WMAL elections. Every verified voter that submits a ballot will be put in for the drawing. Discussion The election committee will verify each one. Carried

Motion Austin, Second Gilbert, for 2008, the A & E Committee schedule a family Christmas party prior to any other events, casino trip, shopping trip. Discussion Carried

Motion Myzska, Second Novakoski; to donate $250 to the Kathy Page 19th Annual Road Rally which supports special needs children on Saturday October 20th. Discussion Carried

Motion Myszka, Second Austin, to provide all full dues paying members, upon request, the APWU national contract, LMOU, Local Constitution and policies. Discussion MSC
