April General Membership Meeting minutes were accepted as written and posted.

Officers Reports:

With no objection, the Treasurer's report was presented last.

Associate Office Director Report: Getting her name out to the associate offices as well as finding out the numbers in offices. Organizing.

MVS Craft Director Report: Recuperating from surgery. LLV engine repair and removal being contracted out. Trailer work being contracted out. Not too much concern from some VMF workers. Inspection is being performed. Has not seen much concern from union members. Currently working on grievances that took place while on sick leave. Management is being told to cut costs. Continuing the fight. Article 32 hampering the fight against contracting out.

President's Report: Encouraging all employees to NOT fill out the VOE surveys, rather throw them away. Management uses this information against us. Management gets "credit" even when the survey is turned in blank. Please throw them away. Arbitration cases are continuing to be heard. Bill, John Clark and Ray are scheduled for more in June. Shortage in Labor Relations staff causing delays and rescheduling. Currently working on 2001 Discipline cases and 1998-2000 Contractual issues. Local Negotiations have met twice so far and will meet again approximately three more times. Currently cleaning up sections of the LMOU. Holiday scheduling and Article 12 are also being discussed. Invited to and attended the United Way Luncheon and discussed the Combined Federal Campaign which LABOR is a big part of. We should all be proud.

Another meeting scheduled for fall. Leadership meeting invite. Transformation at PO was the subject. Being a Commercial Agency seems to be the direction as well as lifting the moratorium on the PO closings. Lots of changes being sought but still must go through Congress. They don't want to eliminate global service. Indianapolis Postmaster, Lyn Smith was present and exchanged some thoughts. A 4/10 meeting will happen soon.

Treasurer's Report: Seventh wedding anniversary today. No new members. Report accepted as read.

Committee Reports:

Big Check Committee: No taxes need to be taken out on individual checks. No 1099 required. Currently working on a plan to dispense checks. Organizing while dispensing the checks is allowed.

Solidarity for Charity: This coming Saturday, May 11 is the Bowling tournament at Paragon Lanes at noon with a cost of $20.00 which includes lunch. Anyone wanting tickets can obtain them from Rick Hundley at the main office on tour 1 or from Linda Pollack at P1 on tour 2 or by calling the union office at 616-776-1489. Still looking for door prize donations. The second event is the softball game being held June 09 at noon at Huff Park (note change in park). This year's Solidarity for Charity will be in conjunction with the WMAL PICNIC.
